The Observer

The Observer represents the quiet presence behind the scenes. Watching, sensing and absorbing without judgement.

The figure is both present and absent, almost like a phantom within the space. It reflects the strange position of being surrounded by people and yet remaining separate from them: observing the lives passing by while feeling suspended somewhere between one moment and the next.

There is a sense of waiting here, of being in a kind of inner waiting room, aware that something is about to change but not yet knowing what. A quiet before the storm.

For me, The Observer is about solitude, awareness and the strength that can exist in simply being still. It is the position from which the other paintings in In Auras emerge: watching people, sensing their presence, and wondering what lies beneath what we can see.
